St Joseph’s Gloucester through the work of our Mini Vinnies group has a very active social justice program with a dual focus on awareness and action. The Mini Vinnies group lead the student body in a variety of initiatives including the Lenten CARITAS Appeal, St Vincent De Paul Appeals (winter and Christmas) and Catholic Mission.
Our fundraising focusses for each term throughout the year are:
Caritas Global support – In the form of Project Compassion money boxes. Mini Vinnies actively collect money by holding a variety of school-based fundraising activities, as well as each family receiving a box to place in their own homes. Fundraising for Caritas includes Pancake Day (Shrove Tuesday preceding Lent).
Vinnies Winter Appeal - Supporting locals – Pyjama Day - dressing up in pyjamas and enjoying breakfast at school.
Catholic Mission - Global support – A Mission Day organised by Stage 3 students concludes the term and is supported by a presentation from Richard Cootes from Catholic Mission. This is a day of fun activities organised by the Mini Vinnies group.
Vinnies Christmas Appeal - Supporting locals - Students and families are asked to support the local appeal through donating non-perishable goods, money or presents, which are then distributed to local families during the Christmas period.
